American Jews in a "Plastic Hour"

Tuesday, April 1, 2025 3 Nisan 5785

7:30 PM - 9:00 PM

Can we chart a moral and political agenda for American Jews to not only survive but thrive in this complicated moment?

The political turbulence in America and in Israel over the past year and a half have stretched our attention, our emotions, and our commitments. Many of us feel that we are in a constant 'reactive mode' to the news cycle.

Join Yehuda Kurtzer to explore how we might look at this moment and see ourselves as agents of Jewish history rather than victims of it.

Dr. Yehuda Kurtzer is president of the Shalom Hartman Institute. He is a leading thinker on the essential questions facing contemporary Jewish life, with a focus on issues of Jewish peoplehood and Zionism, the relationship between history and memory, and questions of leadership and change in the Jewish community. He is the author of Shuva: The Future of the Jewish Past, the co-editor of  The New Jewish Canon, the host of the Identity/Crisis podcast, and the author of dozens of articles and essays about contemporary Jewish life.
